hello!
Finally, after a loooooooooooooooooooooooong delay, i am updating my blog!! I’m sorry that i’ve taken this long to update y’all, but you will have long forgotten about the sorrow you once felt after reading this delightful dip into the life of Jess Mott!
So, what has Jess been up to for the last three weeks???? A whole lot! Hmmm, where to begin…..
I spent a few days in Boston to visit my friend Cat, whom i met through Denise (my lovely friend from Ireland who i’ve know for donkeys) which was pretty fun! It was a good chance to do some last minute shopping and catch up on jet-lag before going to New Hampshire.
…….The first weekend at the Internship was for orientation and to just get to know everyone a little better. I am sharing a room with Broie-Christian Orr from Richmond, Virginia- she’s awesome! Then on Monday, we had our first full day. Here’s roughly how a day in the life of a Streams intern works out:
Between 9am and 12noon we have two ISD (Institute for Spiritual Development) classes. We have just completed Streams 101: the art of hearing god and today we started a new module, called Streams 102: advanced prophetic ministry. It is absolutely awesome teaching; it is soooo rich and full of good stuff and i’m trying to soak as much up of it as i can!!
After an hour of lunch, we then have assigned jobs, interning under Streams Ministries International, until 5pm. I am working in Intern Central, which is the office for the academy. I am mainly doing administration and a bit of event co-ordination for any outreaches we’ll be doing. I really love the job that I have been given, thank you God!
We get home at about 5:30, just in time for dinner, made by the wonderful logistics team. It feel SO good to come home after a long day to a meal already cooked! thanks logistics guys
In the evenings we usually have something going on, whether it be a student impartation, (where interns get to share what God has given them with everyone else!) staff impartation, or study group/ book club. By the time that’s all finished, it’s bed time and then it starts all over again!
On Fridays we have a free day, which is usually spent going to Concord, which is 45 min. drive away and has the nearest mall-yesssss!!!! There is also a little coffee house in New London called Jacks, which has so far proved to be a popular place to go, although i personally have only been a few times. Still, it’s early days yet!
Then on the weekends, we will often be going on outreaches. Last week we had our first outreach at a chili cook-off in a place called Claremont, about half an hour drive away. We set up tents and did spiritual readings and a little dream interpretation. “what kind of a wierdo place has Jess gone to and what has dream interpretation, let alone spiritual readings got to do with being a Christian?” i hear you ask! Well, I believe that, just as God speaks to us through the Bible, or by encouraging words, He can also speak to us in dreams. Then, by asking the Lord for the interpretion, just as Daniel and Joseph did in the Old Testament, He can tell us things about our lives; it is just (and i use that term loosely) another way that God speaks to us.
So, by inviting members of the public to share any dreams they have that may have been puzzling them, we can ask God for the interpretation and then speak what He tells us into that persons life, in a positive and uplifting way.
”Spiritual Reading” is another way of saying that you are asking God to speak to us things about a person’s life and then we can tell them what He is saying: giving them a prophetic word. When ministering to the public, we try not to use Christian language or “christianese” (even that word makes me cringe!) because when we come on too strongly, more often than not, it will push people away. So we try to use more “secular” language which is easier to understand if you have not been brought up in the church- sometimes i get lost in all the lingo! Also, people are a lot more open to what we are giving if it is not been pushed on them as being overtly christian, as they may have had bad experiences with the church in the past, or simply are not interested in religion.
….at the end of October, we are going down to Salem, to do a similar sort of thing at a festival called Haunted Happenings. I am soooooooo exited, it’s gonna be awesome!!! I’ll let you know how it all goes.
I’ll end by sharing with you about the impartation that we had last night by a couple from the New London Bridge (the church we go to) called Ruth and Dan Hayne. They both have a strong anointing for healing and God has given them the ability to pray for people’s arms and legs to grow (or shrink) which can often be the source of back problems and also to realigne the spine.
There is a simple way to see if one of your arms is longer that the other: stretch both arms straight out infront of you, with your palms facing down. Next, put your hands together, while still keeping your arms out straight. Now, with your hands together (like your praying) take a look and see if they are both the same length. if your hands are not the same length, then it probably means that your arms are not the same length, which can make your spine unbalanced and give you problems in your upper back.
As it happens, i have had a really painful upper back for a long while and sure enough, when i measured my arms against each other, my right arm was a good 2 inches longer than my left. Amber (Texas) also had the same problem and when we shared that with the rest of the group, Dan suggested that we ask God to do a creative miracle and grow the shorter arm! He said all we had to do was simply ask Jesus to heal our backs and for Him to bring them into allignment with the rest of our bodies and since Amber and I had the same problem, we should pray for each other!
So I prayed for Amber first. Amber stretched out her arms in front of her and all i said was “Jesus, please come and heal Amber’s back and bring it into allignment with how you created it to be.” Immediatley, her shorter arm began to grow until it was the same length as the other!!!! It was so amazing that i was just speachless, all i could do was make shrieky/moany noises! haha!
Amber was just recently involved in a car accident, which left all of the muscles, bones and joints in her whole back, hips and neck to be stiffened, causing her a lot of pain and stopping her from doing lots of activities that she loves. After Jesus was done growing her arms, he moved onto her legs (which were also different lengths) hips, then her spine and then her neck! All together it took about 4 and a half hours for God to finish what He was doing in Amber’s body. It was pretty funny, because originally her left hip was higher than her right, making her left leg higher (seeming shorter) than her right. So, her left leg moved out, to match the right…. then the right would get longer, then the left would get longer to catch up, and then push back again!!! it went back and forwards for a fair few hours!!!! It seems that Jesus was doing chiropractics on her!! Needless to say, she is feeling a whole lot better now! After all, Jesus is the great physician!
Then it was my turn for prayer!! I stretched both arms infront of me, then Dan prayed that Jesus would come and heal my back. Immediately, my left arm (the shorter one) began to grow!!!!! In a matter of seconds, it was the same length as the right arm, but then it just kept on going! God wasn’t just growing my arm, but He was pulling my shoulder blade out of socket and realligning it, so it my arm was a good foot longer that my right one- at no exaggeration!! Then slowly, it moved back and my arms were the same length. As i write this, i have no more pain in my whole back!!
Isn’t Jesus amazing!!!! Whether you believe in Him or what He did in me and Amber is completely your decision, but when something like that happens, it’s hard to deny that He is still living and active!!
….Well, after that exiting story, I realise that this has become quite the long blog post, but thanks for sticking with it (if you read this far!!!!) and i have no doubt i’ll have more to report very soon!
